We (Coaches Paulson and Schmidt) ran an AAU club for local girls last year
· We had 1 team of 9 players for girls 16 and under
· We played in 5 tournaments, all single day weekends, within eastern PA
· The fee was $200 (costs are low because coaches volunteered their time and we had a sponsor)
This year, 2008, if there is sufficient interest
o We would possibly run 2 teams depending on interest, ages of girls and available coaches.
o Likely play 7 single day, weekend tournaments each. No over night tournaments.
o The fee would be in the $300-$400 range depending on sponsorship etc.
o We could have a competitive tryout if we have more than 9 girls per team.
Playing in the off-season helps girls maintain and improve their skills and become better volleyball players. It DOES NOT guarantee them a spot on the PHS varsity or JV teams in the fall. Pennsbury High School girls volleyball is separate and a very successful and highly competitive program. Your daughter could be the best girl on her club team and not be one of the top girls at Pennsbury. So make sure they play club because they love the game and want to play, because it does not guarantee them a spot at PHS.
I hope to see all of you throughout the winter and spring. Volleyball is a great sport, get out and play it.
good luck
Coach Paulson
